Slowpitch JOURNEY

How did you get into slowpitch?
Started playing beer league during college. Started playing more nights during the week which led to weekend tourneys.

When did it become competitive for you?
When I got my own team together for league night. It flipped a switch lol

What got you hooked?
I had played baseball since I was 4. Post sports depression is real! It's a very odd feeling to not play on a team during baseball season after you had been doing it for 20 years.

Why I Love THE GAME

What keeps you motivated year after year?
Now I'm trying to win the police World Series in Las Vegas, Nevada!

What slowpitch means to you beyond wins and losses?
I have made so many connections in softball. I keep in touch with one friend from grade school and one friend from high school. I have all of my connections from baseball & softball.

Why Slugger

What does the brand represent to you?
The brand represents the city I grew up in and what has molded me into the person I am today. I am the only ambassador who is actually from Louisville! That's right "Luhl-Vul" not "Looey-Ville".

What do you love about the bats?
I like the consistency. I like how they don't try to change something when it's not broken.

When did you first swing a slugger bat?
When the OG Z1000's came out!

OFF THE Field

Off the field I am a full-time police detective and real estate agent. I enjoy spending time with my wife and three kiddos. My plate is always full and I wouldn't have it any other way!

WORDS OF WISDOM

Advice for competitive players chasing the next level?
I would have a plan for BP. Look at the defense before you just randomly swing as hard as you can. Try to hit the ball where there are not any defenders. It's just like you did it playing kickball recess.

Advice for new players?
It's kind of like golf. Hit the range then play then hit the range. You will eventually figure out how to hit.

Career HIGHLIGHTS

I would say defensive MVP for ISA B worlds. I played for Cobbie Harrison and Norm Holt on D&D Grocery. Also, just making it to the Conference. I played for Sports Reach and Rebel Sports. It took a lot of learning and work. I feel very proud to have made it to that level.
