Slowpitch JOURNEY

Hi, I am Jason Crosland, I currently live in Burley, ID and I have been playing softball for 13 years, and I am currently a Free Agent on the market. 2026 will be my 5th season as a Louisville Slugger Ambassador.

I picked up softball by chance, I was home from my baseball season, hanging out with friends on a boat and they needed a guy for league, so I went and played, it was a blast. I didn’t go back for another baseball season, and my same buddies asked me to play and the rest is history. Played some buddy ball with league and local tournaments, that was fun but got picked up by a team out of Boise for a summer. After that the coach/sponsor wanted to join the Conference circuit and been playing around that level since. I love playing softball because its not far from baseball or any other competitive team sport when it comes to getting to hang out with the boys for a good time. I’m always competitive, I hate to lose, so I don’t show up to lose but I still remember it’s a game and it supposed to be fun. That’s the fun part, challenging yourself at the highest level and competing with some of the best athletes in the sport.

Being able to be on the Conference circuit, I have been able to travel all over the US playing different locations. 2021 with MAJ/Knell/Dirty (A) we were able to make the make the Major World Series. We played “A”, “AA”, and “Major” all in one trip, good experience for myself in the softball world. In my years of playing I have been able to make a few All- Tournament Teams Cactus Classic and Pocket City Dual (2021), Kings of the NW and BBQ Major (2025). My favorite tournament has been on the USA/ASA side in Anaconda, MT Goosetown. 150+ teams every year and was able to win the tournament on a couple of occasions, as recent as 2022. As an older guy on the team, I have been lucky enough to be looked at as a mentor of sorts for younger players to try to help them get better and let them know how to play at the highest levels.

Why I Love THE GAME

Grew up watching my dad play softball and always admired him the way he played the game, competing and enjoying the time he got to spend with his friends. I played baseball all my life, once that journey was done, I was able to play softball with my friends and get to compete still. Even playing at the higher level it is a joy, you get together with guys from all over the country, some you may have played with, some you competed against previous years, and some new faces. You become teammates, brothers, family and get to travel all over the country to play ball and start looking forward to those weekends. That part of things doesn’t get old, some of those relationships turn into lifelong friendships, no matter where you are from.

Why Slugger

I first got to swing Slugger in 2018 with Tradesmen and to be honest they weren’t there yet. I think they had just started to get back in the USSSA circuit and there were some things that needed adjusting to get back on track with the other manufacturers. Then I took BP with some buddies in 2021 and got to swing the Red/White AP Genesis and was hooked after that, a total 180 from where they were just a few years before. As good or better than any of the other bats we were swinging that day. I was approached by Jason Legault and Frank Henry about becoming an Ambassador for the Slugger brand and I couldn’t sign fast enough. Nothing has swayed my opinion that when I have a Slugger in my hand, I am going to get top performance from the bat, my personal performance may be a different story. In any weather they hold up, and you’ll be better than the guy next to you with something else in their hands. I first noticed this with the heat in AZ and FL, that the LS bats didn’t let you down while others weren’t holding up as well as they should have. I am very blessed and honored to be part of the Louisville Slugger brand and help promote the best in the game. It makes it fun to make believers out of people when I let them swing my bats for the weekend.

OFF THE Field

For my real job I am the terminal manager for Idaho Milk Transport, a trucking company that specializes in liquid food grade products. Obviously with the name we haul organic milk as our #1 product, but other milk products, juices and cooking oils are among the things we transport. I have a 2-year-old daughter who keeps me on my toes, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I try to keep her around me when I can do some of the hobbies of coaching youth baseball and softball. Maybe it will help her develop a love for sports as well. I normally officiate high school basketball, did not this year due to time I wanted to spend with my daughter, I have been able to do that for the past 10 years now. I enjoy that because I get to help kids in a different aspect as well, part of me giving back to our area’s youth. I am not able to do it enough, but I do enjoy the outdoors while hunting and camping. I find peace in getting disconnected from the everyday grind of life. When I am not coaching kids swings, I get my swings in. Whether it be hitting off the tee by myself or getting some friends together to help each other shag balls.

WORDS OF WISDOM

The best piece of advice I can give to new players coming up and guys looking to keep advancing in this game is 1-play hard and hustle all the time, 2- be a good teammate. In my experiences, those 2 things will separate you on the field and in the dugout. Sponsors and coaches want guys who show up to compete everyday and are good to be around in the dugouts.

Career HIGHLIGHTS

All Tournament Team 4 times. Twice 2021 and twice 2025.
