Slowpitch JOURNEY

How did you get into slowpitch?

I first started playing slowpitch once I stopped playing baseball. Instead of walking on to my hometown university and becoming a pitcher, I opted to finish my education and play slowpitch with my friends.

What hooked you?

Two things. The competitive nature within me came back to life. I was feeling what I had been missing since I stopped playing baseball. Second, developing relationships with all my teammates that will last a lifetime.

When did it become competitive for you?

The game has always been competitive for me… ever since I started playing.

Why I Love THE GAME

What slowpitch means to you beyond wins and losses?

I love the game of slowpitch because I’m able to step away from real life and just play. When I step on the field, nothing else matters. It’s an incredibly free feeling moment.

Community, friendships, travel, competition

The friendships that I have developed due to the game of Slowpitch are unmatched. I’ve gotten to come in contact with people as far east as Florida to as far north as Canada! Not only have I been lucky enough to share the happiness that comes along with playing slowpitch, but I have also made friendships that will last long past my playing days. That’s the best feeling of all.

What keeps you motivated year after year?

Motivation-wise, my desire to be great at what I do is what keeps me going. I want to pursue the highest level attainable in the game and I won’t stop grinding until I do.

Why Slugger

When did you first swing a Slugger?

The first time I swung Slugger was in late 2023. It was the very first USSSA bat that I owned for myself. The bat that I purchased was a 26.5 oz Marshburn 2.0, which I used all last year in conference.

What do you trust about the bats?

The performance. I know no matter the conditions outside, whether it’s 50ºF or 100ºF, I have the best performing bat in the game. It’s a great feeling knowing that people want to swing Slugger after just seeing the results. It’s then solidified when they get to experience it themselves.

What does the brand represent to you?

To me, Slugger represents more than just a stellar softball brand. The Slugger Brand is a family. You get out what you put in. From the customer service to the performance, the Slugger Family takes care of ANYONE no questions asked.

WORDS OF WISDOM

Advice for new players

Don’t be someone who cuts ties with team after team. There’s going to be times where you want to play, but no one thinks of you highly enough as a person to ask you. Be friendly with everyone, after all it’s just a game!

Advice for competitive players chasing the next level

Enjoy playing in the lower levels while you can. Once you chase the higher levels, there’s less and less local tournaments that you can play with your closest friends. Other than that, just keep working, you never know who you’re playing against that will notice your game.
