Slowpitch JOURNEY

Coming out of pro baseball I was looking for something to fill the void of playing
the sport I loved and was dedicated to my entire life. An old teammate Don Walsh
suggested picking up slowpitch. As luck would have it while my parents were
getting their windows replaced at their house, one of the guys noticed my
baseball shrine in the corner. He asked if I wanted to come try out for their team
The Outsiders. After the first BP session I was hooked immediately and knew I
had found just what I was looking for to carry on my passion for the game

Why I Love THE GAME

Slowpitch for me is about the escape from reality during the week. There is no
better stress relief than the feeling of hitting a ball 115+ mph or 450 feet. No
matter how many thoughts I have racing through my head, I can count on the
smiles and conversations on Saturday to clear it all away. It pushes me to stay
active, stay outside, and keep improving myself in something. The worse thing
that can happen for your mind and body as you age is to get complacent and still.
The competitiveness of slowpitch keeps me motivated to continue growing.

Why Slugger

My first time swinging Slugger was in the 240 era. Their warranty policy caught
my attention so I gave the APG2 a try. It was everything I was looking for! The
handle stiffness made sure the barrel was on time at contact. Just enough flex to
create lag while strong enough for me to power through the ball without it
bending back. The feedback of the barrel trampoline through contact is
extremely satisfying along with letting me know exactly where on the barrel I
made contact. This combination of handle stiffness and barrel trampoline also
allowed me to muscle through miss hits off the end or handle and still hit no
doubters unlike any other bat I had swung before it. I love a good taper on the
handle and the pyramid grip fits perfectly in my hand. I teach 150 hitting lessons
a month and I’m very in tune with my biomechanics. Slugger matches my swing
perfectly and consistently while producing undeniable performance. My current
gamer is the Matt Brady. The Maxload creates tremendous whip and pop.

OFF THE Field

I stay very busy with work and family outside off softball. I have a very active 1-
year-old that I enjoy watching grow and learn everyday. Can’t wait for the day I
can take him fishing and get him out on the field with me.

WORDS OF WISDOM

Put in the work and enjoy the process. Play as much as possible and find others
that share the same goals as you whatever that may be.

Career HIGHLIGHTS

I’ve have had several memorable achievements through the years. Numerous All- Tournaments, multiple walk off home runs, a couple Challenge Cup appearances, and plenty more that I have forgotten by now. However, the one that sticks out for me the most is winning Winter Worlds with C4 and receiving All-World’s. To come back through the losers bracket with a team of unmatched chemistry, and to prove all the doubters of our abilities wrong was absolutely priceless. Finding a team with that much comradery for each other is far greater than any personal achievement I can imagine
